Meet FACC-Florida’s previous intern Annemarie Snellman
My name is Annemarie Snellman and I am a 26-year-old graduate student from Helsinki, Finland. I worked as an intern at FACC Florida and Honorary Consulate of Finland from March 2013 to September 2013
My responsibilities at FACC included, but were not limited to writing, editing and publishing monthly Newsletter, creating marketing material, keeping up the membership registry and conducting other membership issues, planning and organizing events and participating in the board meetings.
At the consulate I assisted Finnish citizens in their contacts with local authorities with Honorary Consul Peter Makila. I also assisted Finns with passport, notary services, citizenship, population registration, military service and family law matters. I also advised non-Finnish citizens with entry permit matters such as visas and residence permits. The work also included being in contact with Consulate General and Embassy of Finland on a regular basis.
During my internship I met a numerous new people, local Americans and Finns alike, both in the business world and outside of it, and all these new contacts have left their mark to my experience in the US.
I have always been keen to learn about the fast-paced American business environment and during the six months my knowledge of the American working culture and Florida’s business environment went on a totally new level.
This experience taught me many new valuable skills and abilities that I can draw on in my life and hopefully international career. I highly recommend this internship to any young Finn who is interested in learning more about the Land of Opportunity – this is an opportunity of a lifetime!
